Hello, Memos
Memos is a collaborative library for the free Decent Sampler platform crafted by Venus Theory and Dave Hilowitz. Built around an intuitive and simple interface, it’s designed for fast sound creation and effortless idea generation.
The sonic collection of 50 sources draws from a wide range of analog, digital, and acoustic sources, with each meticulously recorded to vintage microcassette systems using aged tapes to capture that instantly nostalgic and intimate lo-fi charm of a bygone era
Be Kind, Rewind
To capture the sources, recordings were made using classic machines like the Panasonic RR930, Realistic Micro 20, Sony M560V, Sony M450, and Panasonic RN-105. These recorders, each with their own quirks and tonal fingerprints, lend the library a rich palette of textures from subtle warble and hiss to saturated warmth and mechanical grit of recorders pushed beyond their intended purpose.

Memos brings the raw and charmingly flawed character of microcassette tape into your DAW, offering a sonic palette that is warm, warbly, and beautifully imperfect. From dusty analog synths and degraded keys to haunting pads and evolving textures, every sound is steeped in the unmistakable charm of tape hiss and mechanical flutter.
