Description
Most people don’t know it, but in the mid-70s Panasonic actually made a small handful of analog synths. Well, to call them synthesizers is being extremely generous. They’re really just an oscillators, and Panasonic themselves referred to this one as a “Mini Organ”. It also contains an AM radio, and there’s also a slider you can use to fade between the sound of the AM Radio and the sound of the oscillator. The idea was, presumably, that you would have fun playing along with music on the radio, but because it can only pick up AM stations, I have yet to pick up a single music station with this thing.
This model was released in 1975, and after almost fifty years, it’s pretty out of tune. Of course, that’s been fixed in this sample library. In theory, it is only able to produce one nice, mellow waveform, but I’ve discovered something cool, the volume knob introduces clipping: the sound is more and more of a square wave that further up you put it. I’ve sampled both the mellow sounds and the super bright square wave. When you play notes with higher velocity, you get the square wave, whereas when you play softer notes, you get the nice mellow waveform.
I also discovered that this thing sounds pretty cool when you put it through a nice delay pedal. I ended up making 32 warp patches as well.
Have fun!
