Description

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Swiss Museum of Electronic Musical Instruments, which boasts the largest collection of synthesizers in the world. While my visit was regrettably brief,  I did get to spend about an hour and a half in their playroom – a space where members of the general public can actually play various vintage synths:

I spent most of my time trying to record a piece of music, and as such I only ended up interacting with a handful of the synths in the room: a Moog Model D (1971), a Moog Micromoog (1975), a Sequential Circuits Pro-One (1981), and a Roland System 100M (1979). After working with each synth, I recorded a few samples of each instrument. I wasn’t planning on releasing them or even turning them into a sample library, but when I got home and listened to them I was surprised at how nice they sounded. So anyway, that’s what we have here:

These are very lightly sampled – a few notes for each synth – so I’ve added some filter modulation controls that should allow us to breathe some extra life into them. All told there are 19 patches. I hope you enjoy them!

The sample library works with the free Decent Sampler player plugin. Download it here.
