Description

About two months ago, I found a 3D printer in the trash. It’s an Ender 3, an inexpensive entry-level machine, a model which turned out to be the perfect device for me to learn on. Of course, as soon as I got it home, I started to do research–about what kind of plastic it uses, about what kind of software I need. I also wanted to know if there were any what music-related projects I could make with it. And there were…many. After learning about the Prusacaster project, I resolved right there and then that I would print an electric guitar.
Over the course of the next few weeks, I had many adventures with this new device: I printed brackets for my cables, figurines for my son, I even used it to make bridges for this Korean Zither I had bought. And yes, slowly but surely, I also printed an electric guitar. I’m going to be making a video about this whole experience, so I don’t want to say too too much about it yet, but I will say that it is indeed a fully functional instrument.
I’ve sampled both the bridge and neck pickups, both of are quite serviceable in a jangly sort of way. I also sampled some harmonics, and, for me this is really where this sample library shines: the harmonics preset have a classy, mellow timbre that almost sounds like an electric piano. I find them really inspiring. For those who don’t play guitar, harmonics are notes that you can play by placing your finger very gently on the string, but not pressing down. They can only be played at certain frets – I sampled harmonics at the 7th and 12th frets. I also provided a preset that combines both. Each preset comes in two versions: Real Amp, which was recorded with my actual Music Man 65, and Amp Sim, which feeds the direct pickup signal into an amp simulator. Both sound nice, but very different.
Contains the following presets:
- Regular Plucks:
- Neck Pickup – Real Amp & Amp Sim
- Bridge Pickup – Real Amp & Amp Sim
- Harmonics:
- 7th Fret Harmonics – Real Amp & Amp Sim
- 12th Fret Harmonics – Real Amp & Amp Sim
- Combined Harmonics – Real Amp & Amp Sim
OK. I think that’s it. Hope you enjoy these!
