Description
Last month, I made a video about the Solar 42, a highly cinematic synthesizer from Elta Music. Ever since making that video, I’ve wanted to have some of the Solar’s sounds in Decent Sampler. The result is this library of classic analog sounds with 17 presets.
Here’s a quick rundown of what’s inside:
- Presets 1 – 5: These first five presets were directly recorded from the lead voices of the Solar 42. The reverb you hear on those patches is that actual reverb from the unit itself. These should use very little CPU.
- Presets 6 – 17: The remaining patches were built using patch 17. Because these patches use a lot of Decent Sampler’s bells and whistles, you may see higher CPU usage on these.
- Patch 17 is a full fledged subtractive synthesizer using the Solar 42’s waveforms.
Of course, it would be impossible to recreate the actual experience of using a Solar 42 within a sample library. Even so, I think this library is a lot of fun and offers a nice range of useful analog sounds.

The sample library works with the free Decent Sampler player plugin. Download it here.
